The Butterfly on the Path - Photo by Meredith Eastwood

Today I hiked a path through a field of dazzling yellow flowers. The path bends and curves around the lake in the Central Park of Carmel. The lake is really more like a large pond where a sometimes present heron pokes a head through overgrown lily pads.

When I stood very still, the magic found me again….and again.

A waltz of paired dragonflies circling around the water’s shimmering ripples…their winged lovemaking too excited for me to photograph. And then Red Spotted-Purple butterflies resting on favorite weeds. I remembered that “the butterfly counts not months, but moments, and has time enough.” (Rabindranath Tagore)

Today’s moments, time enough for my camera too.
