The Raptor - Photo by Meredith Eastwood

HE IS BACK! And there is a charming tale associated with my Hawk’s Spring Equinox appearance…synchronicity at its magical best.

Yesterday I listened to the Diane Rehm Show on NPR and was inspired by her guests to purchase the best selling book, All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr.

While in the bookstore filling my basket with additional purchases, a clerk approached me and said, “I am reading a wonderful book called H is for Hawk.” I told her I had heard about it and would like to read it. She found the last copy and handed it to me. When I told her I had a hawk who visited me, she grabbed another book, The Goshawk by T. H. White, and I added it into my basket.

Later, as I drove toward the driveway of my cottage, I saw my hawk on the fence. I backed up, stepped out of my car, walked toward him and clicked this photo. I had not seen him since Valentine’s Day, but his appearance made sense to me after my experience in the bookstore.

As I faced him pointing my camera, I imagined him saying,”You might get rid of those ‘Other Birds’ on your Facebook Page and put me back where I belong.”
